Empire Resorts, Inc. Participates in Problem Gambling Awareness Month

Company joins the campaign to raise awareness

MONTICELLO, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Empire Resorts, Inc. (NASDAQ-GM:NYNY) (“Empire” and, together with its subsidiaries, the “Company”) joins the grassroots campaign, Problem Gambling Awareness Month (“PGAM”), in an effort to raise awareness of problem gambling. PGAM, spearheaded by the National Council on Problem Gambling (“NCPG”), highlights problem gambling prevention, education, treatment and research.

Demonstrating its commitment to responsible gaming, during orientation and annually during PGAM, employees of the Company receive responsible gaming training in accordance with the employee training program developed by the New York Council on Problem Gambling (“NYCPG”). Specific staff receive in-depth Responsible Gambling Ambassador Training also developed by the NYCPG.

During PGAM the Company distributes red bracelets to its employees featuring the telephone number for the New York State HOPEline, 877-8-HOPENY, which is available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, offering help and hope for alcoholism, drug abuse and problem gambling, and Company employees participate in games designed to reinforce employee awareness of the Company’s Compulsive and Problem Gambling Plan which addresses responsible gaming and the prohibition of gambling by individuals who are underage and those who are on the State’s self-exclusion and exclusion lists. Further, as part of its ongoing commitment to the local community, the Company worked with community leaders in Sullivan County, NY, to pass a resolution that recognizes PGAM.

“As a responsible member of the gaming industry, we are committed to educating our employees and guests on responsible gaming,” said Nanette Horner, Empire’s Executive Vice President, Chief Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer and Chair of the Company’s Responsible Gaming Committee. “Responsible gaming is everyone’s responsibility. We are pleased to participate in PGAM to raise awareness about problem gambling and highlight the available resources for problem gamblers and their friends and family.”

“Empire’s commitment to responsible gaming is evident through its membership in NCPG and as a sponsor of NCPG’s annual conferences,” said Keith Whyte, Executive Director of NCPG. “Nan is in her second term as a member of NCPG’s Board of Directors, sits on several NCPG committees and has been a speaker at numerous NCPG conferences, so I am confident that Empire not only talks the talk, but walks the walk.”

PGAM activities are intended to increase public awareness of problem gambling education and prevention and the availability of treatment and recovery services.
