Represents Resorts World’s Year-round Commitment to Honoring Veterans and Families Throughout New York State

Resorts World Catskills (RWC) will host the Hudson Valley Honor Flight’s Lunch of Honor on Sunday, December 8th, marking the third straight year the Monticello resort has welcome the signature event to honor the region’s veterans.

“Honor Flight’s Lunch of Honor has consistently been a moment to celebrate those who served our nation as well as their families and loved ones,” said Meghan Taylor, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Relations. “Resorts World Catskills is honored to once again play host to this amazing event, which has seen attendance significantly increase in the last few years.”

“The Lunch of Honor helps us recognize our region’s veterans as well as support our work throughout the year,” said Jennifer DeFrancesco, Executive Director, Hudson Valley Honor Flight “We have seen this event grow in recent years, which has not only propelled this work but inspired us to do even more for those who served. We are so thankful to Resorts World Catskills for once again hosting this amazing event.”

The Lunch of Honor is expected to bring approximately 750 guests to Resorts World Catskills on December 8th. The facility first hosted more than 300 people in 2022, a number that more than doubled the following year. Many of those guests have been and will be World War II, Korean War, Cold War, Vietnam, and Afghan and Iraq War veterans. They will be celebrated alongside the volunteers, community leaders, and sponsors who power the chapter’s honor flights.

In the last 12 years, the Hudson Valley chapter has flown more than 2,500 veterans in the region – as well as from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut – to Washington, D.C. over more than 30 trips. Funds raised at the Lunch of Honor will help the local charity continue to bring these veterans to be recognized at their respective memorials in the nation’s capital.

Resorts World has long celebrated veterans since first opening in New York State more than 13 years ago. Each property – in the Catskills, Hudson Valley, and New York City – has a Wall of Honor each Veterans Day in which employees who served or have loved ones who did can display their photos. The company additionally supports organizations that include MY BROTHER VINNY and the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition. Active and retired service members are also eligible for a Genting Rewards discount program that automatically upgrades them to the Silver card level.
