Monticello, NY, Newburgh, NY and Queens, NY – Resorts World New York City (RWNYC), the State’s largest taxpayer, announced today it has reached a major milestone in supporting New York’s public schools. As of July 21, Resorts World crossed the $4 billion mark in revenue generated for New York’s lottery education fund. That means that in just 12 years, Resorts World has produced enough revenue to pay the salaries of 45,000 public school teachers.
“This has been a summer to remember for all of Resorts World’s properties in New York State, but I’m most proud of what we have been able to accomplish for New York’s public schools by supporting students and educations with much-needed resources,” said Robert DeSalvio, President, Genting Americas East. “From Queens to the Catskills to the Hudson Valley, we are continuing to deliver on our commitment to communities, our commitment to our workforce, and our commitment to all of New York. The best part is we are just getting started and we can build on this significant momentum and elevate our contributions across the state.”
Thomas Grech, President & Chief Executive Officer, Queens Chamber of Commerce, added, “Thanks to the ongoing growth and success of Resorts World in Queens, students and educators across the borough, across the city, and across the state are greatly benefiting. These numbers not only demonstrate the positive impact that Resorts World has had during its first dozen years but the potentially greater impact it can have in the next dozen.”
Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York City Celebrates Two Years in Queens
This milestone comes as RWNYC celebrates two years since the Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York City first opened its doors in Queens. Some of the highlights of the last two years include:
- $400 million hotel has welcomed guests from around the globe to its residential-inspired guestrooms and premium suites
- Eight-story, 4-star hotel addition created over 500 jobs in southeast Queens
- Brought the total investment in Resorts World New York City to over $1.1 billion
The Hyatt Regency’s close proximity to John F. Kennedy International Airport has also proven beneficial for incoming and departing flight crews, who often need a safe and comfortable place to stay between flights.
“Our flight had returned back to JFK after a technical fault, and by the time we arrived at your hotel, all the crew were very stressed and tired,” said Eric Gee, Inflight Manager HCC, British Airways. “From the moment we arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning, to the time we departed later that day, your reception team really looked after us, and that was very much appreciated.”
Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York City has been recognized by its guests on numerous online travel sites:
- Tripadvisor bubble rating, an overall score that takes into account the quality, quantity, and age of individual travelers’ ratings and reviews, increased by 2% over last year
