Marks First Major Golf Tournament in Catskills in More Than a Generation

The Legends of the LPGA held its 2025 Golf Tournament on June 26–28, 2025 at the iconic Resorts World Catskills Monster Golf Club in Monticello, NY.  The event, co-sponsored by Resorts World New York City, marked the first major golf tournament held in the Sullivan Catskills region in a generation, bringing legends Brandie Burton, Laura Diaz, Pat Hurst, and Hollis Stacy to Monster Golf Club.

“Resorts World Catskills was thrilled to welcome the first Professional Golf Tournament to the Catskills since the 1960s,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. “We were honored to partner with Legends of the LPGA to bring this signature event to the reimagined Monster, which has become one of the most exciting new courses in the northeast. It was an absolute honor playing host to the event recognizing our region’s first responders.”

This highly anticipated three-day event brought together LPGA Hall of Famers and Amateur Players for an unforgettable Tournament. The weekend’s festivities also saw these legends of the green pair up with first responders who serve Sullivan County and the surrounding region, honoring their commitment to keeping these communities safe. Winning the Pro-Am Tournament was Maria McBride with NYPD Detective Brian McGovern of NYPD Golf winning The First Responder Challenge.

The Monster Golf Club has once again become a destination in the Catskills since the historic course underwent a $40 million transformation led by architect Rees Jones. The new 7,327-yard iteration combines elements from the original Monster creating one of the most challenging yet exciting golf experiences. The Tournament reflects the Catskills’ re-emergence as a golf destination, harkening back to the Borscht Belt heyday with 21st century, world-class amenities offered by Resorts World.
