Runners and walkers, get ready to race! Resorts World Catskills and the Monticello Rotary Club today announced the 48th Annual Monster Classic Run/Walk, returning to the Catskills on Sunday, August 2. Known to many simply as the “Monster Classic,” this community favorite offers a 5K road race, a 10K road race, and a 5K walk, with something for runners, walkers, and cheering spectators alike.
The race begins at 8:45 a.m. at Resorts World Catskills, 888 Resorts World Drive in Monticello, with proceeds benefiting the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition. Registration is open now at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Monticello/MonsterClassic or by email at [email protected].
“We’re a neighbor in Sullivan County, not just a gaming venue, and the Monster Classic is one of our favorite days of the year to prove it,” said Meghan Taylor, Senior Vice President Government Affairs and Public Relations, Resorts World Catskills. “Hosting and sponsoring this race alongside the Monticello Rotary Club means more runners and walkers on the course, and more support for the veterans who need it most.”
The Sullivan County Veterans Coalition uses funds raised by the event to cover everyday essentials for local veterans facing hardship, from utility bills and rent to groceries and rides to medical appointments.
“Every runner, walker, and spectator who shows up on August 2 is showing up for a veteran in Sullivan County who needs it,” said Orshii Boldiis, Co-Chair of Race, Monticello Rotary Club. “Having Resorts World host and sponsor us means we can welcome an even bigger crowd this year and send even more support where it’s needed most.”
The Monster Classic continues a longstanding partnership between Resorts World Catskills and the Monticello Rotary Club, which volunteered alongside the property earlier this year at the Thunder Country St. Jude Radiothon. It’s all part of RW Gives, the company’s community philanthropy program, through which Resorts World has invested more than $3 million in over 200 local organizations.
