Resorts World Catskills and Monticello Rotary Club Announce Monster Classic Run and Walk to Support Local Veterans

Monticello, N.Y. – It’s time to lace up your sneakers! Resorts World Catskills (RWC) and the Monticello Rotary Club announced today the 2021 Monticello Rotary – Resorts World Catskills Monster Classic Run and Walk. The race, now it its 43rd year, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 1, 2021. Known by many as the “Monster Classic,” this fun-filled day offers something for the whole family to enjoy.

Participants have the option of a 5K or 10K run or a 5K walk on one of the best courses in the beautiful Catskills. Whether you choose to run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines, everyone is invited to come out and show their support for all those who have served.

This year, RWC is partnering with Monticello Rotary as a Title Sponsor at $3,000 ($1,500 of which will go to the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition). The partnership will support the Rotary’s goal of helping local veterans meet the needs of everyday living.

“Resorts World is proud to partner with Monticello Rotary as a title sponsor of the Monster Classic and recognize the service and sacrifice of veterans of the past, present and future,” said Meghan Taylor, VP Government Affairs and Public Relations Resorts World Catskills & Resorts World New York City. “We are grateful for this terrific opportunity to raise awareness and funds for local veterans and the difficult challenges they face.”

The event annually draws hundreds of walkers, runners, spectators, and volunteers from all over New York State. Funds raised by the highly anticipated event will benefit the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition as part of the Sullivan County Patriot’s Day celebration.

“We are thrilled to announce the Monster Classic Run and Walk 2021 to celebrate our incredible community and honor all those who have served or are currently serving,” said Les Kristt & Orshii Boldiis, Co-Chairs of the Monster Race. “Too many veterans struggle to make ends meet due to financial and medical hardships after coming home. The Monster Classic is a fantastic way for the Rotary to acknowledge and give back to the men and women who have given our country so much.”

“I wish all of the runners and walkers good luck in this year’s Monster Classic! Veterans have sacrificed so much for our country and face serious challenges upon returning home,” said Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther. “It is important that we bring attention to veterans’ issues at community events like this one.”

“I am honored to join the Monticello Rotary and Resorts World Catskills in raising awareness and expressing gratitude for all those who have served,” said Senator Mike Martucci. “This event is a great way to bring families together to commemorate those who have given their lives for our country.”
