Casino Resort continues its commitment to fostering strong multicultural relationships
MONTICELLO, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Resorts World Catskills today has announced its grand Lunar New Year celebration for February 25th which will appeal to its Asian clientele. The day-long celebration has been designed in the spirit of Asian customs surrounding the Spring Festival and will feature red envelope surprises throughout the casino, and a traditional lion dance performed by the New York Chinese Freemasons Athletic Club. The traditions of the lion dance have had a long history in China, and are believed to bring luck, prosperity, ward off devils and spirits, and bring peace and good harvests to the people. Chinese lions symbolize wisdom, power and wealth. Resorts World Catskills is just 90 miles north of New York City which has an Asian population of more than 500,000, making it the largest in any city outside of China.
Several bus operators have begun offering roundtrip services from New York City to the new luxury casino resort. Resorts World Catskills’ hospitality offerings also spotlight Asian culture, featuring multiple Asian-inspired dining options, including Good Friends Market and Lotus, a fine dining restaurant overseen by a Hong Kong trained chef, Chef Kai.
There is also space designed to cater to the discerning Asian gamers and high rollers, including a high limit room, available for VIP players, and includes an array of table games and slot machines. Design flourishes throughout Resorts World Catskills echo Asian cultural traditions, and include live mandarin trees and flowers, lanterns, and hanging fire crackers that will be prominent through March to celebrate the Year of the Dog. Resorts World Catskills’ Feng Shui consultant was hired to help harmonize gamblers with the casino environment. In establishing its address as 888 Resorts World Drive and building a curved entryway to prevent luck from “flowing out of the door” and away from guests, Resorts World Catskills strives to instill a perpetual air of good fortune at the casino resort. The casino is also salted with orange-accented tiles in the building, whose discovery brings good luck.
