The River Reporter – Wear red for the Heart-A-Thon

In recognition of National Wear Red Day, the 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon Committee and Bold Gold Media staff are wearing red to raise awareness about heart disease and highlight the upcoming 48th annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon.  The event takes place Friday, February 20, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Resorts World Catskills.

Bold Gold Media, in partnership with New Hope Community, continues a program that benefits work that supports the prevention, education and treatment of heart disease throughout Sullivan County.

Presented by Fallsburg Lumber and Narrowsburg Union, the Heart-A-Thon will broadcast live on 98.3 WSUL from Resorts World Catskills, which has generously donated its entire conference area for the event. Community members are invited to stop by to make a pledge to add to the Unity Ambulette Tally Board, donate blood at the Beth Bernit Century 21 Geba Realty and CHB Inspections Blood Drive (noon to 6 p.m.), and visit the Jeff Bank Health Fair (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), organized by the Rotary Clubs of Sullivan County.

Those unable to attend can pledge by phone via the Merrell Benco Insurance Agency and Lawrence Miller Insurance Agency Heart Line or donate online at www.WSUL.com.

SUNY Sullivan Hearts are also available for purchase at businesses and organizations throughout the county.

Funds raised support equipment and programs provided by organizations such as  Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills, Sullivan 180, A Single Bite, STEAM Fund, NAMI Sullivan County and SUNY Sullivan.

“Wearing red on National Wear Red Day is a visible reminder of why this event matters and how powerful our community can be when we come together,” said Dawn Ciorciari, general manager of Bold Gold Media NY Region.

“Resorts World Catskills is deeply honored to play host to such an amazing event to raise awareness around heart disease here in Sullivan County,” said Meghan Taylor, senior vice president for government affairs and public relations, Resorts World Catskills. “We’re thankful to our partners for leading this effort to keep our neighbors educated and healthy. Our commitment is to work for them today, tomorrow, and in the years to come.”
